Wm T. Arrasmith dead
One of the pioneers of Clay township W.T. Arrasmith, died the 28th day of September, 1918, visiting at his old home in Illinois, aged about 80 years. No man in that part of the county stood higher in trhe estimation of the people than Mr. Arrasmith. In an early day in this conty he conducted a small store at Old Judson, where he also was postmaster, and no man every served the people in a more careful and painstaking manner. He was a democrat of the old school, stern and exacting of his party the greatest efficiency in all its undertaking, yet to his fellow man he was the personification of kindness and generosity. May he rest in peace.

Listed in the People's Guide of 1874 (Eugene Township) as a "Merchant Tailor" living in Newport, but his occupation was evidently put down wrong as in all the census he gave his occupation as "Wagon Maker".

He built one of Cayuga's early hotels in 1887 and operated it until it burned in December 1891. His daughter Litha was a seamstress in Eugene and is mentioned in one of Alice Craig Fuller's poems in "Lantern Gleams of Old Eugene."

Listed as 5th child, but there was Margaret in 5th position (info from somewhere else in Arrasmith book). They are probably the same person?
