Letter Fannie Cardwell wrote to her son Clayton, October 13, 1960.

"My great grandparents, Dr. William D. Lane and grandmother Lane, a R. N. nurse, I don't have her first name, born in 1700, but do not know what year."

She also wrote, "Elizabeth Ann Lane Hussung, born February 17, 1803, in Williamsburg, Virginia, moved to Warsaw, Indiana in 1818"

We always had Elizabeth's middle name from above as "Anne"....Frank Hussung shows it as "Betsy". Also first hand account from granddaughter of Jacob and Elizabeth dated Dec 21, 1964 shows name as Elizabeth Betsy. Letter from Grandma Cardwell dated 1960 shows it as Elizabeth Ann. Not sure will leave Elizabeth Anne

Frank Hussung's Notes:

Elizabeth Lane, the wife of Jacob, died only 35 days after the death of her husband.

It is said that Elizabeth was a Dr. and road a horse all over Gallatin County area to serve the sick I have this note for their daughter Elizabeth Ann/Betsy Lane

Elizabeth came to Kentucky from Virginia around 1806 with her parents at the age of 3.

12/25/01 Mom's notes - Engeldow's were the forebearers of Mercian Kings....Ethelbert and Engelbert.... Mercian was the middle Kingdom of England around 700-800's. Ethelbert and Engelbert were brothers and mom thinks Ethelred II, King of England (on Alma Etoile Alderman's lineage) is one of their sons.

Hiram Engeldow was the grandfather of William Engeldow (grandfather of Grandpa Elston)...they came from Greene County, TN

12/25/01 Mom said she didn't think Samuel was born in England...think US.

8/10/03 Mom said today that she thought William Carls' grandfathers name was Hiram because he was born in Greene County, TN (Chattanaooga) and all of the Engeldows were from there.

9/19/03 Mark Engeldow has Samuel as born in Kentucky about 1810 in Boone County. I have 1810 Census for KY and there is NO Engledow of any spelling in 1810 Boone County. Will check with Mark and see perhaps if County is incorrect?
