When Grandma Fannie was asked why her sister Emily and her husband James Bradley and their two children, Ethel and
Alva all died on the same day, July 21, 1896, she said that they all died in the Johnstown Flood. She said when they found Ethel she was
in a tree still clutching a piece of her mothers apron.
The Johnstown Flood was actually May 31, 1889. I
have not found yet where they lived but figured they lived on the Ohio
River and that there was another small flood. I have researched this
for their dates of death and have not come up with anything. I am
going to try to obtain copies of their death certificates to verify
the date of death to be sure the July 21st, 1896 date is correct and
will go from there.
